Scholarship Information

CONTINUING STUDENTS applying for FCS Scholarships should have the following qualifications:

  1. Be a declared major who is committed to a degree in one of the majors within the Department. (HDFS or CCS)
  2. Have maintained at least a 3.5 University of Utah GPA. (consideration will be given on a case-by-case basis to outstanding applicants who fall below this minimum).

FRESHMAN AND TRANSFER STUDENTS applying for FCS scholarships should have the following qualifications:

  1. Planning to declare a major in one of the majors within the Department (HDFS or CCS)
  2. Have maintained at least a 3.5 overall GPA at the institution they last attended (consideration will be given on a case-by-case basis to outstanding applicants who fall below this minimum).

ALL APPLICANTS MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

    1. Completed application form:
    a. Continuing

    b. Freshman/Transfer:

    2. An official copy of a current University of Utah transcript, including fall semester grades

    3. An official copy of transcripts from all institutions attended (Note: if you have taken concurrent enrollment classes, you will have a college transcript through the institution providing the concurrent enrollment)

    4. Two letters of recommendation on letterhead. Any additional letters submitted will be discarded.

    5. A 500 word personal statement indicating
    a. Your plans and goals after completing your college education
    b. Why you feel you are qualified for this scholarship
    c. Any other factors you would like the selection committee to consider (e.g., financial needs, unique skills, etc.)
