Teacher Bios

Heidi Baker PhotoHeidi A. Baker, M.S.

Heidi Baker is theDirector of the Child and Family Development Center lab school. She has a Master of Human Development and Social Policy with an emphasis in Early Childhood. She teaches early childhood education courses that include: Understanding Young Children, Integrated Curriculum Methods, and Creativity and Cognition in Young Children. Heidi's research interests focus on parents' and teachers' influence on children's success in school, the development of creativity and critical thinking skill and the development of early childhood education training evaluation models. Heidi is actively involved in university, state and national early childhood education advocacy and policy organizations.

Heidi is the mother of six children, grandmother of seven and lives with her husband in Holladay, Utah. She enjoys long-distance running and biking and watching old movies.

Mary is an early childhood educator in the Child and Family Development Center at the University of Utah .

Mary is currently teaching three to five year old 3-day morning class and four to five year old 4/5 day afternoon class. She has previously taught the 3-4 year old preschool class and the kindergarten class. Mary has been teaching at the Child and Family Development Center for 15 years. Mary graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies. Mary's main goals are that every child will love coming to school and that every child will learn through play.

Mary enjoys everything good in her life; U of U Football - GO UTES!, Bear Lake trips and spending time with her family.

 

Sandra Grimshaw PhotoSandra Grimshaw

Sandra is one of the supervising teachers at the Child and Family Development Center. Sandra teaches the 2-day Morning Toddler class and a 3-day three to five year old morning class. Sandra started teaching at the preschool in August 1998 after graduating from the University of Utah with a BS in Human Development and Family Studies. She has taught the Two Day Morning Toddler class, the Two Day three and four year old class, the Three Day Morning class and the Five Day Afternoon class.

Sandra is the mother of three boys and one daughter. She also has five grandsons and one granddaughter. When Sandra is not at the preschool, she enjoys interacting with family members who live here and traveling to California and Arizona to see her grandchildren. Sandra and her husband, Randy, live in Sandy.


Rachel Casper PhotoRachel Casper

Rachel is the supervising teacher of the Kindergarten at the Child and Family Development Center. Rachel graduated from the University of Utah with a BS in Human Development and Family Studies. Rachel has worked for the CFDC for six years. Rachel graduated from University of Utah completing her Masters of Education. She is a certified Early Childhood Teacher.

Rachel is the mother of three boys who successfully keep her hopping. She is an avid collector of watches and is working on weaning herself of her chocolate addiction. Her interests include playing Game Cube and Game Boy, reading, gardening, messing about with her car, and doing just about anything with her boys..

 

Ali Brown PhotoTammy Taylor

Tammy teaches the 2-day morning three year old class.  She graduated from the University of Utah in with a BS in Family and Consumer Studies. Tammy has worked for the Child and Family Development Center for over a year. 

Tammy hopes that each child will gain an appreciation for learning and feel loved during their school experience.  She feels it is a privilege and a joy to work with children.
